If he comes into the Federal Reserve advocating for significant rate cuts, he may not have much credibility in convincing others of the need for further cuts. We may even end up with a deeply divided committee that fundamentally refrains from cutting rates. In the short term, a potentially hawkish Federal Reserve could increase market volatility.
