Bitget CEO Gracy Chen shared observations from discussions with traders and institutional clients in Europe and the United States. Since October 10 of last year, the contraction of cryptocurrency liquidity has been viewed as structural, with leading platforms experiencing a general decline in liquidity of 30-40%, leading to decreased trading volumes and increased trust costs. Despite this, institutions still show interest in long-term allocations to crypto assets, but they are beginning to view cryptocurrencies through a more mature traditional finance lens, no longer seeing them as independent speculative products, but rather as part of a global asset allocation. Multi-asset strategies, RWA linkage, and hedging portfolios have become the new norm. The focus of institutions and VIP clients has also shifted from purely seeking Alpha returns to asset security, risk management, and capital efficiency. They wish to avoid concentrating capital in a single asset and prefer that capital flows efficiently, demanding transparent third-party custody, clear risk control logic, and flexible account systems.
