Car Imports to Ukraine Decreased by 17%
In January to July 2026, Ukraine imported passenger cars worth $2.62 billion, which is 17% less compared to the same period last year. The main reason for the decline in imports was the cancellation of VAT exemptions on electric vehicles at the beginning of the year. The share of passenger cars in the structure of goods imports decreased to 4.5%, while last year it was 6.9%. More than 70% of imported cars are used. The largest supplying countries were: the USA - $508.3 million, Germany - $416.2 million, Japan - $371.2 million. In July 2026, Ukraine recorded 130,919 vehicle registration operations, which is 4.2% more than in June, but 0.1% less than in July last year. New vehicles accounted for 13,521 operations, or 10.3% of the total. The number of first registrations of new cars increased by 8.9% compared to June and was 0.1% lower than a year earlier. Passenger cars remained the largest group: 105,692 operations, or 80.7% of the total volume. In July 2026, 23,137 used passenger cars from abroad were registered, marking the highest monthly figure since the beginning of the year.
