Coinbase has unveiled a feature that utilizes an AI agent to search over 2.2 million accommodation options, handle hotel bookings, and process on-chain payments. This feature represents a case where cryptocurrency payments are integrated into the travel service purchasing flow, announced on the 18th at 8:41 PM Korean time. When users set a spending limit, the agent takes care of the subsequent procedures. This functionality connects Travala's travel booking tool with Coinbase's payment infrastructure, currently supporting hotel bookings only. Payments are designed using the USD Coin method, leveraging the Coinbase wallet and Base network. Travala explained that the agent does not access the user's private key, and the final payment approval is done by the user. Users can present their budget and conditions, and the agent will find accommodation options and connect to the payment request. However, the service range is still limited, with flights, car rentals, and activities expected to be introduced later. Coinbase's AI agent payment is in its early stages, with payment approval, authorization revocation, and refund processing being crucial aspects.
