Donald Trump Becomes Shareholder of SpaceX with an Investment of $15,001 to $50,000
Donald Trump acquired between $15,001 and $50,000 worth of SpaceX shares on June 23, according to a financial statement made public on August 22. Although this amount is minimal compared to his estimated multi-billion dollar fortune, it allows him to become a shareholder in Elon Musk's company. This transaction is part of over 1,000 stock trades made in June, totaling between $78 million and $263 million, including purchases in Berkshire Hathaway, Visa, and Palantir. Kelly Loeffler, a member of his cabinet, is also said to have benefited from several million dollars due to the IPO of xAI, which merged with SpaceX. SpaceX, as a major military contractor, is subject to federal approvals. Trump recently asked his administration to increase the number of commercial space launches, a field dominated by SpaceX. The White House clarified that Trump's portfolio is managed by third parties, with no direct influence from him. However, a president's influence can also manifest through public statements. In May, after purchasing Dell shares, Trump encouraged buying Dell computers, resulting in a nearly 12% rise in the stock. Democratic lawmakers, including Elizabeth Warren and Robert Garcia, have sought explanations regarding Trump's financial exposure to SpaceX, which, although small, places him in a unique position.
