Expansion of the 'Affordable Medicine' Program to 260 Drugs
The reimbursement program 'Affordable Medicine' has been expanded to include 260 trade names of drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Of these, 173 will be provided free of charge, while 87 will require a partial co-payment. This is the second expansion of the program since the beginning of 2026, allowing patients to receive electronic prescriptions for the new medications. The drugs are intended for blood pressure control, prevention of heart attacks and strokes, treatment of chronic heart failure, and arrhythmias. Health Minister Viktor Lyashko noted that cardiovascular diseases account for 68% of deaths among Ukrainians, and up to 80% of such cases can be prevented. For the first time, the expansion includes a mechanism to support medicines produced in Ukraine. The program includes 67 single-component and 35 combined medicines manufactured in Ukraine. As of July 2026, the program covers 1,038 items, including 771 medicines, 172 combined products, 59 insulin preparations, and 36 types of medical devices.
