Charles Hoskinson, co-founder of Cardano, stated that quantum computing poses a significant challenge for Bitcoin, suggesting that BTC could lose its leading position if its governance fails to adapt. He emphasized that Bitcoin's inflexibility makes it difficult to implement necessary upgrades. Hoskinson noted that Cardano's formal onchain governance allows it to respond more effectively to technical threats. He described Cardano as a 'spiritual successor' to Bitcoin, addressing issues that Satoshi Nakamoto could not resolve. With Bitcoin's market cap around 1.3 trillion dollars, Hoskinson warned that if its governance cannot progress, it may not retain its status as the top cryptocurrency. He highlighted that Cardano is preparing for a major upgrade that will enhance its speed by 60 times, indicating a proactive approach to potential vulnerabilities.
