Jack Mallers: Bitcoin and AI Could Restore Human Time
Strike CEO Jack Mallers stated that Bitcoin and artificial intelligence could help humans reclaim their time for creativity. He argued that hard money does not deplete people's time and energy, instead rewarding them for their efforts. Mallers emphasized that poor money systems require individuals to work longer for basic needs, while good money, like Bitcoin, can free them from such burdens. He referenced the Wright brothers' invention of the airplane during the gold standard era as an example of creativity enabled by sound money. Bitcoin recently experienced a significant rise, gaining about 25% in August, marking its strongest month in 2026 and its first positive August since 2021, closing near 78000 dollars. This surge followed Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's announcement of expanded long-dated bond buybacks, which lowered yields and triggered billions in short liquidations. The dollar weakened amid these developments and the announcement of U.S. debt surpassing 40 trillion dollars. Mallers commented on the unsustainable level of U.S. debt, asserting that discussions about interest rate changes are irrelevant as the situation remains inflationary. Recent data showed the consumer price index, excluding food and energy, rose by 0.3% in August, exceeding expectations, as the U.S. faces an affordability crisis and a potential interest rate hike from the Federal Reserve.
