London AI Companies Secure 661,100 Square Feet of Office Space by 2026
In King's Cross, London, AI companies such as Google DeepMind, OpenAI, and Anthropic have secured 661,100 square feet of office space by 2026. According to a report by Knight Frank, the annual area secured is expected to reach approximately 1 million square feet, double that of last year. The King's Cross area is undergoing transformation due to urban redevelopment and the expansion of the AI industry, with Google DeepMind set to move into 'Platform 37' in King's Cross in March 2026. OpenAI announced London as its first overseas base in 2023, establishing an office of 88,500 square feet, which is expected to open in 2027. Anthropic has leased a space of 158,000 square feet. Other companies such as Meta, Synthesia, and Wave are also located in King's Cross, contributing to a 'cluster effect' between businesses and talent that strengthens London's position as an AI hub. British Land has signed leasing contracts for 1,692,000 square feet in the 2026 fiscal year, with 78% of One Triton Square, where Anthropic will move in, already leased. As competition for AI infrastructure intensifies, the impact of the office concentration in King's Cross on the virtual asset market remains to be seen.
