Market Value of Altcoins Surpasses $200 Billion
The total market value of cryptocurrencies outside the top 10 assets has grown by more than 10% since the beginning of September, surpassing $200 billion and breaking through the resistance level from May. At the same time, Bitcoin's dominance has decreased after failing to break above the 60% level, which could be a sign of the beginning of an altseason in 2026. The returns on altcoins have outperformed Bitcoin for the first time since December 2024, indicating increased optimism and risk appetite among traders. However, the rapid accumulation of leverage raises the risk of widespread liquidation. The market value of altcoins is now approaching the important resistance level of $220 to $230 billion. A break and stabilization above this range could strengthen capital rotation, but failure to surpass it increases the likelihood of selling pressure and liquidation among traders. The current growth of altcoins is not a definitive confirmation of an altseason until the $220 to $230 billion resistance is broken.
