NBU Prepares Currency Liberalization Package
The National Bank of Ukraine is finalizing an agreement with the International Monetary Fund on a new currency liberalization package that will ease restrictions for businesses, individuals, and the financial market. NBU head Andriy Pyshnyy reported that the regulator has completed the main part of consultations with the IMF and will soon approve the relevant decisions. The package includes expanding opportunities for Ukrainian businesses to conduct foreign economic and financial operations, as well as easing restrictions on currency exchange operations and cross-border transfers for individuals. For the financial market, conditions for financial institutions are set to be clarified. The gradual lifting of currency restrictions has been a priority for the NBU since 2023, when the transition to a more flexible currency policy began. The new measures are expected to support Ukrainian production and economic growth. Details of the package will be announced in the coming days. The Cabinet of Ministers also reapproved a draft law introducing VAT on international postal shipments up to 150 euros.
