Regulation of Financial Infrastructures in Europe Takes a New Direction
The regulation of financial infrastructures in Europe is evolving from an obstacle to a lever for modernization. Liliana Fratini Passi, Managing Director of CBI, highlighted how the relationship between the market and regulations has changed, leading to more modern and interoperable infrastructures. The market has shown an increasing acceptance of the rules, moving from skepticism to a greater awareness of their role in the growth of the sector. Smarter regulation is accelerating modernization, with a focus on interoperability. Tools such as PSD3, PSR, FIDS, and the digital euro provide clarity in a complex financial context. A common legal framework is needed to support interoperable evolution, foster innovation, and strengthen fraud prevention in the sector.
