Ukraine Updates Organic Market Regulations to EU Standards

The President of Ukraine has signed a law "On State Regulation of Organic Production, Circulation, and Labeling of Organic Products," which updates the rules for the organic market in accordance with EU requirements. The law implements the norms of European legislation and is part of Ukraine's commitments under the Association Agreement with the EU. Key changes include the introduction of a state control system with authorized certification bodies, harmonization of production and labeling requirements, expansion of the list of organic products, and the introduction of group certification. The new law also creates registers for organic animals and establishes transparent rules for the circulation of organic products. The Ministry of Agrarian Policy notes that this will reduce the administrative burden on businesses and simplify the entry of Ukrainian producers into the EU market. Small farmers will be able to cooperate and undergo group certification. The adoption of the law will strengthen trust in Ukrainian organic products in international markets and create new opportunities for high value-added production.
