Ukrainian Dairy Exports Fell by 23% in June 2026
In June 2026, Ukrainian dairy exports decreased by 23% in physical volumes compared to May, while revenue dropped by 31%. The main reasons are the return of tariff quotas from the EU, falling global prices, and a complicated licensing mechanism. Imports of European cheeses into Ukraine increased by 72%. Compared to June 2025, export volumes decreased by 7%, and revenue fell by 23%. From January to June 2026, exports totaled 63,780 tons worth $180.87 million, which is 10% less in volume and 20% less in revenue compared to last year's figures. The main export categories are: ice cream - 28%, condensed milk and cream - 26%, cheeses - 14%, butter - 10%, and casein - 8%. In June 2026, there was an increase in the export of non-condensed milk and cream to 1,260 tons, fermented dairy products to 656 tons, and ice cream to 2,700 tons. However, cheese shipments decreased to 1,080 tons and butter to 649 tons. Low demand in Asia and Africa, as well as a complicated licensing mechanism, contribute to the accumulation of butter in warehouses. At the same time, Ukraine increased dairy imports to 8,680 tons in June 2026, which is 72% more compared to May 2026 and 95% more compared to June 2025. For the first half of the year, imports amounted to 39,170 tons worth $182.78 million.
