US Adds Otisitch Inventati and Two Others to Terrorism Sanctions List

The U.S. government has added Otisitch Inventati, Palestine Action, and Masar Badil to its terrorism sanctions list. The sanctions involve the freezing of assets within the U.S. and a ban on transactions by U.S. persons. The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced that these organizations were sanctioned under Executive Order 13224. Otisitch Inventati is identified as being based in Italy and has been accused of providing external server hosting, encrypted email, chat, and video conferencing services. Palestine Action, a UK-based organization, has been claimed to be involved in breaches of defense infrastructure and military facilities since July 2020. Masar Badil is described as an organization linked to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Listing on the sanctions list means the freezing of assets and interests in the U.S., and U.S. persons are prohibited from engaging in transactions with the designated entities. OFAC has also issued General License 36 to allow for the winding down of transactions related to Otisitch Inventati. The parties involved have expressed opposition to the sanctions, asserting that their activities will not be halted. The U.S. government has explained that these measures target violence and support for terrorism.
