Franklin Templeton Joins Canton Network as a Super Validator
Franklin Templeton has joined the Canton Network as a super validator. The publicly available Canton Improvement Proposal list includes 'CIP-0118: Add Franklin Templeton as a Super Validator (max weight 5)'. Franklin Templeton is a large asset management firm with $1.79 trillion in assets under management, making it the largest asset manager to take on the role of super validator. Super validators participate in the operation of Canton’s global synchronizer and are involved in transaction validation and on-chain governance. The collaboration between Franklin Templeton and Canton began on November 12, 2025, when the Benji Technology platform expanded to the Canton blockchain. Benji is a platform where Franklin Templeton manages blockchain-based investment products. Franklin Templeton stated in a document dated April 30, 2026, that Benji is the first U.S. registered money market fund to officially use a public blockchain as its record-keeping system. Canton adopts a structure that distributes transaction data only to necessary participants, managing both transaction transparency and privacy protection.
