In Ukraine, the prices of watermelons have decreased to 2-10 UAH per kilogram, which is 34% lower than at the end of last week. The increase in supply is linked to the hot weather, which promotes accelerated ripening and harvesting. However, the demand for large watermelons remains weak, leading to reduced purchases by wholesale companies. The quality of the harvest also affects prices, as drought in the southern regions negatively impacts the produce. Currently, watermelons are 47% cheaper than during the same period last year. It is expected that prices will not rise in the near future, except for high-quality watermelons, whose supply is limited. Watermelons weighing over 5 kg may continue to decrease in price, as farmers aim to sell their accumulated volumes more quickly.
