Yen and Japanese Government Bond Instability Highlights Bitcoin Narrative
The instability of the yen and the Japanese government bond market has brought renewed attention to the background of Bitcoin (BTC). It is interpreted that the awareness of issues surrounding fiat currency and government debt systems is one of the pillars of the BTC narrative. On the 28th at 5:22 AM, Jeffrey Zirlin, co-founder of Axie Infinity, mentioned the connection between the problems in the Japanese financial market and BTC. He stated, "While one aspect is that the market is gaining more convenient access to funds, the current trend also seems to be influenced by the issues surrounding the yen and the Japanese government bond market." He further emphasized, "The problems existing in fiat currency and the debt system are one of the important reasons Bitcoin was created in the first place." Discussions surrounding the Japanese financial market intensify when both currency value and government bond interest rates fluctuate together. Zirlin's remarks focus on linking the awareness of issues regarding fiat currency and the debt system to the BTC narrative rather than the Japanese market itself. The government bond market reflects the cost of government financing and the credibility of monetary policy, and as long-term interest rate movements increase, debates surrounding government debt burdens and central bank responses may also expand. Zirlin's comments point out that the issues with the yen and the Japanese government bond market do not directly move BTC prices, but rather that the distrust in fiat currency and debt is one of the key narratives explaining BTC. This statement remains as an interpretation of the market by a GameFi project founder, connecting the Japanese financial market and BTC.
