Anthropic Invests $35 Million in Security Fund to Expand Claude Mythos 5's Defensive Capabilities
Anthropic is investing $35 million (approximately 48.5 billion KRW) to broaden the defensive applications of Claude Mythos 5 and support open-source security. This initiative aims to expand its usage not by making the model available to general users, but through corporate security products and verified defense organizations. Anthropic plans to apply Claude Mythos 5 to Claude Security and integrate it into security partner tools. Claude Enterprise customers will be able to use Mythos 5-based scans in a public beta version of Claude Security. When users select a repository, the system analyzes the codebase and returns a list of vulnerabilities along with suggested fixes. Patching will be conducted on the Claude Code web, and human review and approval will be required before actual code implementation. Anthropic explained that receiving only predetermined outputs can reduce the risk of misuse. The newly created Defender Advantage Fund will operate with $35 million in Claude credits, supporting vulnerability patches for open-source projects and experiments in security approaches. Previously, Anthropic donated $4 million to open-source security organizations through Project Glasswing. Mythos 5 is a model that demonstrates strong performance in cybersecurity and life sciences, maintaining a limited access approach due to the potential for misuse in attacks.
