Cursor Launches Open Source Hosting Platform Origin Beta
Cursor has officially launched the early Beta of its open source hosting platform, Origin, which is now being rolled out to all paid subscription plans. Users can manage PRs and browse code in Cursor's hosted repositories, while Agents can directly modify code and push branches. Origin supports syncing existing GitHub repositories and PRs, with comments also able to sync bidirectionally. When importing GitHub projects, GitHub remains the primary repository, and there is no need for immediate migration. Last week, Origin was accidentally exposed, with some users gaining early access, which Cursor later acknowledged as an accidental opening and subsequently closed access. It is now officially live, and additional code hosting features for Agents will continue to be added in the future. Notably, about three and a half hours after the launch of Origin, GitHub experienced a massive outage, making the timing of Cursor's release particularly noteworthy.
