Eight Percent Expands P2P Lending Tokenization Market with Acquisition of Aipanda
Eight Percent has acquired the token securities (STO) platform Aipanda Partners. This acquisition aims to extend its capabilities in loan asset discovery and evaluation into the tokenization market, connecting domestic alternative investment assets with global funds. CEO Lee Hyo-jin emphasized, "The success of the tokenization market depends on what assets can be secured and managed," stating that the goal is to tokenize loan assets to connect with more investors. Founded in 2014, Eight Percent is a pioneer in P2P finance, with a cumulative loan volume reaching 1.4 trillion won, an average return rate of 10.36%, a delinquency rate of 1.65%, and a loss rate of 1.01%. Aipanda, established in 2021, is an STO platform that has built a trading platform for monetary claim trust income securities and is currently pursuing preliminary approval for income securities investment brokerage. Through Aipanda, Eight Percent plans to structure real estate-backed loan assets and corporate loans as digital investment products. Additionally, they are conducting a pilot project that connects the blockchain network Kaia and overseas stablecoin funds to domestic loan assets, with the first pilot test scale being approximately $800,000. CEO Lee predicts that once the institutional framework is established, the entire investment process will occur on-chain, with the ultimate goal of creating a market where foreign investors can easily invest in high-quality alternative investment assets in Korea.
