BIT Trust White Paper 2.0 Released... Presenting a Secure, Compliant, and Verifiable Trust System
In the cryptocurrency industry, security issues have resurfaced, making it essential to establish a structure that can verify the trustworthiness of financial platforms.
Global digital financial services platform BIT released its Trust White Paper 2.0 on September 10, focusing on security and compliance transparency. The white paper addresses 24-hour risk monitoring, multi-layer security controls, and a verifiable trust system encompassing both cryptocurrency and traditional financial services.
Recent security incidents in the cryptocurrency sector have heightened the importance of platform security. As attack methods evolve, risks extend beyond single wallets or technical vulnerabilities. They can affect account permissions, private key management, and the transfer of assets through third-party infrastructures.
For users, the critical issue is not just whether the platform is safe. A more realistic criterion is whether risks can be identified and mitigated early when abnormal signs occur. It is also important to have sufficient approval processes and checks in place for major operations. As financial services expand to include U.S. stocks and RWA, the evolution of security and risk control to match business expansion is also a key concern.
In this white paper, BIT presents an independent verification structure for risk governance and security architecture compliance and regulatory systems. It also includes a transparency system for governance regulations across all business areas, including U.S. stocks and RWA asset management.
What Can Be Done Before Risks Escalate into Incidents
No platform can eliminate all risks simply by claiming to be safe. What is more important for users is whether there is a defense system in place before risks materialize and whether there are mechanisms to identify and suppress abnormal activities when they occur.
BIT views risk management not as a control function after an incident but as an institutional capability. According to its risk management and governance framework, control mechanisms are embedded throughout the entire business cycle, including pre-trade assessments, monitoring during trades, and post-trade processing. In specific areas such as margin lending and collateral loans, the scope of control has been expanded to include real-time monitoring of due diligence and trade-specific risk criteria, risk alerts, default management, and liquidation.
These mechanisms lead to an account and asset protection system that users can more easily verify. BIT continuously monitors user behavior and trading activities, automatically detecting abnormal login devices and withdrawal actions. Risk-based alerts may lead to withdrawal delays or manual reviews. This allows the security system to identify and respond to abnormal signs at an early stage, rather than just determining the cause after an incident.
In the area of cryptocurrency protection, most assets are stored in cold wallets. Private keys are stored in hardware security modules certified to FIPS 140-3 Level 3 and are never exposed in plaintext under any circumstances.
Beyond technical controls, a crucial issue is who can exercise veto power when business priorities conflict with security requirements.
According to the white paper, BIT's security organization holds veto power. If there are significant security risks during product design, business requirement architecture changes, or operational deployment processes that do not meet BIT's security standards and compliance requirements, the security team can halt related activities. Subsequent remediation and review must occur before any progress or launch can take place.
The principle of dual control is applied to major operations. At least two authorized individuals must participate to ensure internal checks and balances and reduce single points of failure and operational risks. This applies to high-risk or sensitive operations such as asset transfer, account security changes, and transaction approvals.
The purpose of such mechanisms is not to promise that risks will never occur. Instead, it is to prioritize security over risks as much as possible, identify abnormal signs more quickly, and establish controls earlier. It also aims to reduce the potential impact of single points of failure.
Expanding Security Scope from Cryptocurrency to U.S. Stocks
As financial services expand from cryptocurrency to U.S. stocks and RWA asset management, the meaning of security is also broadening. Users are no longer just looking at account protection or how cryptocurrencies are stored. They need to verify who operates the services, how they are regulated, and how assets move through the underlying financial infrastructure.
Regarding BIT's securities sector, the white paper details the operating entities, regulatory systems, account and clearing structures, and customer asset management methods. BIT's securities business is operated by Matrix Gelifu, which holds a financial services license issued by the Gelifu Financial Services Authority and is subject to relevant regulatory requirements. The U.S. stock trading service is supported by regulatory licenses and the participation of authorized third-party institutions in the account and clearing system, based on publicly verifiable regulatory information.
Behind what appears to be a single buy order for users lies a multi-step process involving operational regulations, order execution, clearing, and asset custody. For a financial platform to expand its business scope, it must not merely add accessibility to new products. Risk governance and compliance systems must also expand accordingly.
The same principles apply to BIT's broader operations. The Trust White Paper 2.0 additionally presents regulatory and governance information related to Matrixport asset management. It also includes the regulatory and licensing status held by BIT Group entities in Hong Kong, Bhutan, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK, the US, and the British Virgin Islands.
What BIT presents is not a security mechanism for a single product. It is a broadening risk governance and trust framework that aligns with the trend of expanding business boundaries from cryptocurrency to traditional financial assets.
Why Must Trust Be Verifiable?
Risk control deals with how to identify and manage risks. However, in a financial platform that encompasses multiple asset classes and business lines, merely stating that risk control exists is not sufficient. If the platform can only explain its security and compliance asset management structure, trust ultimately relies on the platform's assertions.
