Fees for Withdrawing Dollars at Foreign ATMs
Withdrawing dollars abroad has become common for Argentines traveling. The Central Bank reported the current fees, which vary significantly between institutions. Costs are high at traditional banks: Banco Nación charges $14.52, Banco Macro $14.88, Banco BBVA 10.925 pesos, Banco Credicoop $4.50, Banco Santander 4.640 pesos, Brubank $6.05, Banco Galicia $5.90, and Banco Provincia $8. The fee can represent up to 15% of the amount withdrawn, especially for small withdrawals. Within Argentina, withdrawing from ATMs of other networks can cost between 2,292.95 and 5,700 pesos, depending on the bank. Abroad, some banks charge in dollars, increasing expenses. Digital alternatives, such as Ualá, do not apply additional charges at foreign ATMs, while Brubank charges $6.05. However, foreign ATMs may have their own fees and other costs for currency conversion. It is important to review the conditions before choosing a digital bank for travel.
