Cardano Dijkstra Update Aimed for End of 2026
The Cardano network is continuing preparations for the Dijkstra update, with plans to transition the first deployment to the mainnet by the end of 2026. The update will be implemented in two phases; the first phase will introduce Nested Transactions and Linear Leios, while the second phase will bring in Peras. The first phase of Dijkstra is expected to be gradually rolled out by the end of 2026. The Peras feature in the second phase is anticipated to be activated in the second quarter of 2027. Intersect has announced that node development and ecosystem preparation efforts for the Dijkstra hard fork process are progressing. Upcoming Haskell-based node versions will allow for testing of functions related to Dijkstra. The Cardano-node-11.1.1 version is expected to be available on the mainnet by September 7. Cardano-node-11.2 will include the Dijkstra feature set in a testable form but will not be a final candidate for the hard fork. Cardano-node-11.3 is planned as a hard fork candidate and is expected to encompass all Dijkstra functions. DijkstraNet will be established after node 11.2, allowing for the testing of various components. Additionally, proposals for constitutional changes related to Dijkstra are expected to be publicly presented. The Dijkstra hard fork is projected to come into effect between December 5, 2026, and January 4, 2027.
