Financial Companies and Pawnshops Report Record Profit of 8 Billion UAH
In the second quarter of 2026, non-bank financial institutions showed asset growth, and financial companies and pawnshops achieved historically high financial results. Credit unions resumed asset growth for the first time in two years. The share of non-bank institutions in the total assets of the regulated market decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 8.8% due to faster growth in the banking sector. Financial companies maintained their asset volume at the level of the previous quarter but increased the volume of services provided by 82.7% year-on-year, achieving a record net profit of 8.0 billion UAH. The insurance market showed a 3.4% quarterly increase in the assets of risk insurers and a 26.3% increase year-on-year. Pawnshops increased their asset volume by 4.9% and the volume of new loans issued by 0.6%. Credit unions increased their assets on a quarterly basis for the first time in more than two years, although there was a 7.2% decrease year-on-year. The NBU continues to adapt regulatory requirements by introducing new risk management rules for payment companies and insurers.
