Jensen Huang Declares Arrival of AGI... Astra Performance Improvement
Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, declared that "AGI has arrived," reigniting the AGI debate in the artificial intelligence industry. On the 6th, he mentioned OpenAI's latest model, GPT-6 Astra, on X, stating that Astra was trained on over 100,000 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell NVLink72 systems, with an additional 400,000 GPUs set to be activated. Astra demonstrated significantly improved performance in high-level mathematics and cybersecurity compared to previous generations, achieving a score of 99.9% on ARC-AGI -3. However, there are concerns about the lack of a unified definition and standards for AGI. Gary Marcus, a professor emeritus at NYU, emphasized that Astra's success does not constitute evidence of AGI, calling for clearer definitions and evidence. The advancements in AGI and AI agents may also impact the blockchain and digital asset industries, as the ability of AI to conduct economic activities independently could increase the need for digital payments and on-chain infrastructure. Professor Marcus assessed that Astra falls short of AGI, stating that declaring victory without a definition only muddles the discussion.
