Number of MiCA Licensed Institutions Increases to 331, All New Additions from German Cooperative Banks
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has updated the MiCA registration data, bringing the total number of authorized Crypto Asset Service Providers (CASPs) to 331. The six new additions are all German cooperative banks, including Raiffeisenbank Aidlingen, Ihre Volksbank, VR-Bank Mittelfranken Mitte, Volksbank Euskirchen, VR Bank Ried-Überwald, and Volksbank Backnang. Germany now has 79 licensed CASPs, leading France with 35 and the Netherlands with 29. Since the end of June, when there were 57 licensed providers, the number in Germany has continued to grow, partly due to its large financial sector and the number of credit institutions eligible to provide crypto services. The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) of Germany stated that the existing national licensing system allows some service providers to obtain authorization through simplified procedures during the transition to MiCA. ESMA also disclosed that the lists of Asset-Referenced Tokens (ART), Electronic Money Tokens (EMT), and non-compliant entities have not changed: the ART registration list remains empty, the EMT registration list maintains 43 entries, and the non-compliant entities list remains at 167 entries.
