NVIDIA Plans to Invest in Perplexity at a Valuation of $30 Billion
NVIDIA is in discussions to participate in a new funding round for Perplexity, with a valuation exceeding $30 billion and a financing scale of several billion dollars, representing at least a 50% increase from the $20 billion valuation in September 2025. Perplexity specializes in AI search and agents, with its annual revenue growing from less than $250 million at the beginning of the year to over $750 million now, up from $500 million in April. Perplexity Computer is one of the key sources of this growth. NVIDIA had previously considered acquiring some technology licenses from Perplexity for several billion dollars and poaching employees, but negotiations ultimately shifted to a common equity investment. Last week, NVIDIA employed a similar "license + poaching" strategy with Poolside, paying $6 billion for model development software licenses and planning to recruit over 100 employees, while also investing an additional $1 billion. Perplexity was once discussing a similar arrangement, but it has now transitioned to becoming a direct shareholder.
