Strategy Raises $20.9 Billion and Holds 845,050 Bitcoins
Strategy ($MSTR) has raised $20.9 billion in the U.S. equity issuance market this year, ranking fourth in issuance size. As of August 30, its Bitcoin (BTC) holdings have increased to 845,050. CEO Phong Le revealed in a chart published on September 3 that it is the fourth largest in issuance size, following SpaceX, Alphabet ($GOOGL), and Intel ($INTC). The recent fundraising was conducted through the sale of common stock, securing a net profit of $608 million from the sale of MSTR common stock between August 24 and 30. Of this, $369.7 million was used to purchase Bitcoin, acquiring 4,603 at an average price of $80,318. The cumulative cost of Bitcoin purchases is $63.73 billion, with an average purchase price of $75,412. The company allocated the proceeds from the common stock issuance for Bitcoin purchases, preferred stock buybacks, dividend funding, and cash liquidity. MSCI is reviewing the criteria for inclusion in the global investment market index for companies holding digital assets, with a submission deadline of September 30.
