Two CEOs of Polish Zondacrypto Exchange Missing, Parent Company License Revoked
The founder of the Polish cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto, Sylwester Suszek, went missing in March 2022, with his family fearing he may have been murdered. His successor, lawyer Przemyslaw Kral, has also been missing for four months, with only unverified sightings reported in Israel, Botswana, and Dubai during this time. Kral had released a video reassuring clients that the company held over $330 million worth of Bitcoin, but the only person who knows the unlocking keys is the missing Suszek. Industry insiders have pointed out that the wallet address Kral claims holds the Bitcoin has been inactive for nearly a decade, raising suspicions. On June 29, the Estonian Financial Intelligence Unit revoked the license of Zondacrypto's parent company, BB Trade Estonia. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has accused the exchange of having ties to Russian intelligence agencies, organized crime, and right-wing politicians. A business partner related to Suszek's disappearance, Marian Wszolek, has been charged by Polish prosecutors with involvement in an organized crime group, money laundering, and illegal detention, and he is also missing. The Katowice prosecutor's office in Poland has launched an investigation into the establishment and operation of Zondacrypto.
