The U.S. midterm election season has entered its final stage, with Wall Street devising strategies for various scenarios. The market predicts that the Democrats will win control of the House of Representatives, but the Senate race remains tight, with Republicans holding a slight lead on Kalshi and Polymarket. The futures market shows an increasing demand for hedging against volatility in the S&P 500 index in early November. Evercore ISI recommends that traders implement straddle options strategies on the State Street SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust. Additionally, the market anticipates that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates twice by early 2027. Investor confidence in the Democrats securing the House in November is rising, while the Republicans are seen to have only a slight edge in the Senate. This outcome is viewed as the most favorable combination, minimizing disruptive policy risks, although the confidence is not unfounded.
