Interest-Bearing Accounts: Which Banks and Virtual Wallets Offer the Highest Rates
The menu of options for pesos adds a new chapter in the city, and small savers are fine-tuning their strategies: no one wants to leave their savings account balance stagnant while the annual nominal rate (TNA) struggles to gain a few points of real yield.
The fintech ecosystem and traditional banking are currently engaged in a low-intensity battle, but with high liquidity. The main attraction lies in the immediacy, as unlike the rigidity of a 30-day fixed term, interest-bearing accounts and money market funds offer daily accrual with immediate liquidity availability.
However, to navigate this universe of yields, it is essential to scrutinize the fine print, where coverage caps, tiered amounts, and conditional bonuses emerge.
When examining the schemes that ensure returns with fixed rules, Banco BICA leads the list with its tiered scheme Cuenta Positiva 4, which has a ceiling of 22% TNA, although the benefit operates exclusively up to an amount of $750,000. Following closely are Carrefour Banco and the wallet Fiwind, both offering a 21% TNA, although the latter imposes a cap of $750,000 and keeps the bonus subject to market reviews.
One tier lower, BICA's intermediate proposal (Positiva 3, from $750,001 to $2,250,000) offers 19% TNA, accompanied by Naranja X and followed by the fintech Ualá. The guaranteed rate grid is completed with the proposal from Banco Voii (17% TNA) and the upper balance tier of BICA (Positiva 2, up to $20 million), which stands at 16% TNA.
